Komilfo: beauty that stays at home
When the day ends, our relationship with clothes changes too. There is no need to think about how we look to others, yet the wish to feel beautiful does not disappear. Komilfo devotes its work to this personal side of everyday life. The Ukrainian home and sleepwear brand was founded in Mykolaiv in 2005 by Iryna Kuryuchkina. Komilfo clothes are made for the time when the hurry of the day falls silent and you simply want to be at home. Such calm does not mean indifference to appearance, rather it lets you decide for yourself what is beautiful today.
The first patterns were made by hand, and since 2019 all of them have been prepared digitally. The tools changed, but the look of a garment still depends on concrete decisions: how much to bare the shoulders, how to accentuate the waist, where to place the lace. At first glance patterns seem a technical part of the work, yet this is where a garment's shape begins. Sometimes the most expressive detail is the cut itself, sometimes it is silk satin catching the light. That sheen draws the eye, but beneath it lies a specific fabric composition.
Silk satin in Komilfo garments: more than a sheen
Silk satin changes a little each time light falls on it. As you move, the reflections shift, the drape of the fabric emerges and the lace pattern becomes more noticeable. In this way even a simply cut garment can look different with each movement and each light.
The silk satin of Komilfo garments is made of 55% silk, 40% viscose and 5% elastane. It is a blended fabric with a smooth, glossy surface. The silk part adds a pleasant touch and sheen, elastane gives stretch, and viscose is a significant part of the overall composition. The composition matters as much as the glow of the fabric you see in the photo. The same satin reveals itself differently in short nightgowns, two-piece pajamas or a long robe. This is where the most personal part of choosing begins.
Komilfo silk nightgowns, pajamas and robes
Home clothes are not always meant only for sleep. Some belong to the most personal moments of the evening, others become an inseparable part of a calm weekend. Komilfo expresses these different rhythms of home life through nightgowns, pajamas and robes, each with its own purpose and mood.
Silk nightgowns
In silk nightgowns Komilfo's creative signature shows most clearly. Lace, the line of the neckline, adjustable straps and softly falling satin create a feminine, sensual impression that needs no extra embellishment. Short models look more playful, while long ones let the full beauty of the fabric's drape unfold. It is more than a garment for sleep, because sometimes the most beautiful part of the evening is the moment when you can simply be yourself.
Silk pajamas
The charm of pajamas lies in the freedom to choose what kind of evening you want. On warmer days or in a warm home it is pleasant to wear a set with shorts, and when the air turns cooler, pajamas with long trousers become more appealing. The sheen of silk satin and the lace that trims some models give ordinary homewear more expressiveness. Such pajamas naturally accompany you from a calm evening in the living room to bed, and at the weekend you do not feel like rushing to take them off.
Silk robes
If nightgowns belong to the evening and pajamas let you take your time, a robe joins these pleasures with all the time spent at home. It is lovely to put on after a shower, to throw over a nightgown while making morning coffee, or to keep on for longer when the weekend plans consist only of rest. Short and long Komilfo robes give homewear a finished look, even when you do not feel like going anywhere or dressing up. We quickly grow fond of such garments, so their beauty is worth protecting with proper care.
Caring for Komilfo silk satin: attention continues after the evening
The evening ritual does not end when you take off a favourite garment. For silk satin and lace details to stay beautiful for longer, they need more careful treatment. Start with the label, because the instructions for a specific item always matter more than general advice. If allowed, wash by hand or choose a gentle machine cycle at a low temperature. Avoid washing together with rough fabrics that can catch the lace or damage the surface.
Do not twist or wring nightgowns, pajamas or robes after washing. Dry them without wringing, and when storing keep them away from direct sunlight. Care matters here as much as choosing the garment: it helps preserve the smooth surface and the more delicate details. There are no complicated secrets, only a few rules and a little patience. And the next evening, when the day is once again left outside the door, it is lovely to have a garment you want to come back to.
